Vieira - When Ideas Happen is the brand of Ricardo Oliveira Vieira, a Portuguese, born in 1990, in Portimão, Portugal. Multi disciplinary Graphic Designer, with an academic degree in Design of Communication, and with proven experience in various employments.
With the professional experience gained from working as a Graphic Designer, he has developed the skill to accomplish any brief, giving the client a satisfying result of creativity and functionality.
By being employed in a Photography studio as a Photographer assistant, elaborating photo retouching, he better comprehends how an image works, with its brightness, colours, composition, and so on.
With the graduation in Design of Communication, he has gathered a variety of culture in the exciting world of Design, and now understands that Design is very important for the society. Whether by making people easily find their desired destination with the use of an efficient wayfinding system, or by creating impact with a brand for its memorable advertisement. Design really does matter.

Collection of adverts published in different magazines (Cardiff Life, Elle Decor, Grand Design, Good Housekeeping, Swansea Life and Western Mail), promoting the Taylors Etc brand and its high-end products.
Taylors Etc Bathroom Portfolio
A portfolio to showcase the capabilities of the company's Interior Designers in the creation of bathroom Design. This portfolio is separate in different categories: traditional shower room; traditional bathroom; traditional cloakroom; contemporary bathroom; contemporary shower room and contemporary cloakroom. Each project is displayed with its before shot, 2D plan, 3D visual and after shot, to best explain the customer how it works, from beginning to end.
The Baked Tile Company
The Baked Tile Company is a tile retailer and its tiles are specially selected by a team of enthusiastic Interior Designers. Its ranges can inject unmistakable personality into all manner of design schemes.
With this in mind, the visual identity needed to be fun while still being serious at the same time. This balanced approach for the brand helped showcase various products with different characteristics but keeping its aesthetic level aswell. The brand strategy included the logo, stationery, pricing signs, facade and catalogs.

With the Disney theme to explore, this wedding's visual identity went for a fantasy approach. The bride and groom were fully illustrated to incorporate with this theme, and also to follow the same style as to the menus, table map, gift boxes, and so on.
Rocha Beach Wayfinding
This project happens due to a research work, in which it becomes clear that a wayfinding system is needed in the Rocha beach. This research work covers what a wayfinding system is, what is its meaning, and what are its principles. It helped better comprehend how to establish an efficient wayfinding system. The main goal behind this wayfinding system is to help identify where are located the various points of interest in Rocha beach, whether by using a map containing pictograms that point to these locations or by using directional signs.

A stand exhibition containing 10 of the most established shoe brands in Portugal.
The brand indentity had to represent all of them with their own exhibitor to showcase their shoes to the public.
The brief asked to create a new logo for the brand and its stand exhibition with 12 x 12 meters, with its own VIP area, an exemption for the employees and the shoe’s stock, and each exhibitor showcase for every brand.
Línguas Peçonhentas - Manuel Teixeira Gomes
This project holds 3 illustrations from one story from the book of Manuel Teixeira Gomes, entitled as Línguas Peçonhentas. Four men always tend to gossip about what’s happening in the neighbourhood. The result from it is an hilarious story.
20 Rules for a good Design
Editorial with 20 rules on how to make a good design, containing examples from well established Graphic Designers from all over the world. Includes rules, such as, “Use an element that captures the attention in the first seconds.”

The brief asked to re-design a bad example of a leaflet with a new layout. The original leaflet had two different brands in it, but the goal was to maintain the original message of both brands, while creating a totally new layout for it.
Packaging of traditional sweets from the region of Algarve, representing 4 products with its own ingredient: almond, carob, fig and orange. The project contains the creation of a new logo, the packaging for every type of product, and the production of communicational pieces (poster, flyer and invitation card for the event), for a promotional event, with the purpose to showcase the new products of this new brand.
Ausonia Hot Stuff
This is the sub brand for the new product Hot Stuff, containing 12 red sanitary napkins, for the existing brand Ausonia. The launch of this product had also a new free product from Ausonia, the Ausonia Classic, with 2 tampons. The brief asked for the creation of the sub brand, its own packaging, and the packaging of the free product, which had to be technically attached to the Hot Stuff product. It was also tasked to do the production of a flyer explaining both products (main product, and free product), and a exhibitor showcase to be displayed in the stores.
The concept of this brand is to sell a variety of products that are eco-friendly. This project holds the creation of the logo, and its stationery, containing: business card; writing paper; envelope; packaging and bags for the store products; and also a pattern for the wrapping papers. It was also briefed to create the brand's website and store front.

The concept of this project was to make a creative campaign for a job, that has nothing to do with Design. The choosen job was the fisherman, and this job's brand contains a logo, poster, and storyboard for a TV advertisement.
A collection of 5 illustrations with the purpose to serve the exhibition in Casa Manuel Teixeira Gomes, in Portimão. It’s about a daily routine that becomes completely random, and everything that’s usually normal is represented differently.
A new product from Knorr, from the new category of preheated dishes. It contains the packaging for the new product, its promotional campaign (mupie, outdoor, SMS and e-mail messages), and also a stand, in the stores, to help showcase the product to the public.
Ouricinho e Castanhita

In collaboration with Carla Lúcio, the author of the story, I had to illustrate the whole story and book pages. With new characters, landscapes, text, and more. The story holds the day of “São Martinho” in Portugal, in which the tradition is to eat roasted chestnuts. This book, for 3+ years kids, is about a chestnut called Castanhita, who is afraid to come out of her beloved friend chestnut burr called Ouricinho.

The purpose of this project is to promote the 5 monuments of Algarve. This project includes the creation of a brochure, CD case and CD label, brandy label, and a packaging that holds them. It was also tasked to create the website to help promote the monuments.
The Upside Down Day of Arnaldo
Arnaldo is a normal person who has his normal daily routine, but one day everything becomes the opposite. The dog becomes the mail man, the bed becomes the pillow, the fireplace has water instead of fire, and many more.

This brand was created for an exhibition that showcases the use of typography with creativity. It contains its own sub-brands, that are used in various types of layouts. For this project its very own logo, sub brands and 5 illustrations were created.
Card Game Illustration
A card deck from the game Phylo, displayed in the Natural Museum History of London, containing the illustration of Ecosystem. A childish style illustration demonstrating the differences of each animal with its given habitat.
For this illustration I had to represent my version of alter ego from the personality of one of my university classmates. My classmate’s alter ego had a beard and mustache, a vintage style, a pleasant personality and was also artistic.
The main goal was to completely change the original layout into a more attractive one, giving the user a better visual orientation for each element (type of news, image, text, etc.).

Contest for young people with talents. An illustration for the contest with its title in it, and the concept of a garage band. Besides the concept of music, it was also intended to have a bit of fashion and art in it.

The project holds the creation of a poster, CD case and CD label, in which the typeface Officina Sans is the subject matter. The person covered with the typographic elements is Erik Spiekerman, the author of this typeface.
25 de Abril
Poster and outdoor were briefed to promote the celebration of the 25 of April in the city of Portimão. The bird silhouette made out of clove flowers represents the peace that was brought after that day, when the soldiers had clove flowers in their weaponry as a symbolic protest against the dictatorship regime.

Patterns of China

The concept behind this project was to create a pattern with elements representing the country of China. It results in the creation of 5 patterns, that are incorporated in a fashion clothing line.
The main objective was to create an illustration containing only typographic elements. The theme was completely free, and the chosen concept was to illustrate a famous scene from the movie The Matrix, with key words from the 3 movies.
